In the King James Version Bible, the one that is said to be the closest English translation from the original Hebrew(Old Testament) and Greek(New Testament) texts, and the Bible that I began my journey into the real world according to GOD. Has quite a few old world(1500-1800) words that were used. Simply because that was the way in which people of that time spoke and wrote. These words can form a barrier of understanding to some people today. So here are the definitions of those words, so that reading and understanding The KJV Bible is possible for them.
Word – Definiition – Usage
- Abated – Slowly reduced or Went away – ELOHIYM abated the flood for Noah.
- Art – Are – For thou art my hope, O Lord God:
- Asswage – Slowed or Ceased, Stopped – For Noah, GOD asswaged the Flood.
- Aught – Any or Anything – If thou sell aught unto thy neighbor,
- Bare/Bareth – Birthed or Take of ones burden – Bare a son. Bare someones bills.
- Bear – Stand as, or Withstand – Don’t bear false witness. I can’t bear it.
- Begat – Cause the birth of, to father – GOD begat JESUS. A’Dam begat Cain
- Beguiled – Deceived – Eve said, the serpent beguiled me.
- Behold – See, take notice – Behold I will do a new thing.
- Bow – Rainbow or Bend over to – I do set my bow in the cloud. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them
- Brethren – Brothers under GOD – Brethren, be not weary in well doing.
- Bring Forth – Deliver, to cause – They shall bring forth fruit in old age.
- Builded – Built – Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
- Canst – Can’t or Can not – Canst thou by searching find out God
- Causeth – Causes – He that winketh causeth sorrow.
- Charity – Love – Faith, hope, charity, the greatest of these is charity.
- Cherubim – Plural for Cherub, Praise Angel – The cherubims did lift up their wings.
- Commanded – Ordered, warned – And HE Commanded the Man saying,
- Compasseth – Surrounds – Compasseth them about as a chain.
- Confound – Confuse – Let us confound their language.
- Corrupt – GOD’S way changed – They are corrupt, and speak wickedly.
- Countenance – Facial expression, apperance – Why is thy countenance fallen?
- Covenant – Promise of allegence, agreement – God made a covenant with us.
- Creepeth – Creeps, or To creep – God made everything that creepeth.
- Crieth – To say loudly, to shed tears – Thy brother’s blood crieth unto me.
- Daughters of Men – Women – Daughters of men, bare children.
- Didst – Did – “Thou didst escape it well,” saith she
- Disciples – Followers, Students of – CHRIST had 12 disciples.
- Dishonoreth – No respect, evil acting – You dsihonoreth GOD with evil acts.
- Door – CHRIST, Your heart, – . I am THE DOOR. Behold I stand at the door, and knock
- Doeth or Doth – Do, or Dose – He that doeth good is of God: Doth the plowman plow all to sow?
- Draweth – Draws – My life draweth nigh unto the grave.
- Dread – Uneasy feeling, Fear of – Fear and dread shall fall upon them;
- Dwell – Live, Abode – I will dwell in the house of the LORD
- Dwelt – Lives in, lived before – Isaac dwelt in a place called Gerar:

- Endureth – Endures – HIS mercy endureth for ever.
- Enmity – Mistrust, Hate, Dislike – I will put enmity between thee and the woman.
- Entereth – Enters, To enter – When wisdom entereth into thine heart
- Entreateth – Treated – He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not:
- Entreat – Treat, Behave towards – If thou have a servant, entreat him as a brother:
- Fair – Looked appealing, Looks – Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant:
- Fallen – No honor, Sad, Be Killed – How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer
- Findeth – Finds, To find – Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing
- Forth – Out from, Out To – Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth
- Fugitive – Person with no home state, Fleeing the law – A fugitive shalt thou be.
- Gavest – Gave – Thou gavest also thy good Spirit to instruct them.
- Goeth – Go or Goes – Pride goeth before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
- Grace – Undeserved Love – By grace are ye saved through faith not of yourselves:
- Grieved – Great Sorrow – Then I being grieved did weep, and in my sorrow prayed
- Ground – Walkable Surface, Dirt – God formed man of the dust of the ground
- Hast – Have or Hasn’t – Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
- Hath – Has – The Lord hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his anger.
- Heareth – Hears or Lisstens – A wise son heareth his father’s instruction:
- Hearken – Listen to, Hear – We will not hearken to the king, to go from our religion
- Heavens – The areas above Earth – And God called the firmament Heaven.
- Help meet – A Mate – I will make him a help meet for him.
- Henceforth – From now on – Let Israel hope in the Lord from henceforth and forever
- Her Seed – CHRIST’S Church – the dragon went to make war with the remnant of her seed.
- I AM – YAHUAH/GOD – Moses, say unto the of children Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
- Just – Follower of CHRIST – As it is written, The just shall live by faith.
- Keepeth – Keeps or Holds on to – He that keepeth the law, happy is he.
- Knew – Intimate with – And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain.
- Knoweth – Knows – If any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing
- Lest – Or, Unless – Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
- Lieth – Lies or Waits – If thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door:
- Mark – Thinking or actions, 666 – And that no man might buy or sell, save he had the mark.
- Mayest – May – Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
- Meet – At the same place, Good – So bring forth therefore fruits, meet for repentance.
- Midst – Middle of or With – Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am in the midst of them.
- Nay – No – My brethren, swear not, but let your yea be yea; and your nay be nay.
- Nigh – Near – Lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
- Ought – Should – Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had aught against me
- Perpetual – Endless – And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, a perpetual shame.
- Persecution – Authorities hostility – Our necks are under persecution: we labor, and have no rest.
- Poor – Little Spirit and Money – The poor laboreth, when he leaveth off, he is still needy
- Putteth – Puts – HE putteth forth his hand upon the rock
- Remaineth – Still is, Remains – The gift of the Lord remaineth with the godly
- Renown – Well Known – There were giants in the earth in those days, men of renown.
- Repented – GODLY sorry – Be sorry in your heart to YAHUAH/GOD and does not do it again
- Restrained – Held back – Sarai said unto Abram, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing
- Righteous – Knowing, believing and doing the will/WORD of YAHUAH/THE CREATOR
- Salvation – Saving Power – I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD
- Savior – YAHUSHA/JESUS, One who saves – Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- Savour – Aroma, smell, flavor – For we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ
- Sayeth – Says – “ There is no peace,” sayeth the Lord , “for the wicked.”
- Seed – Has 3 meanings 1. Planting Seed 2. Seed of Human Fertilization. 3. THE WORD OF GOD – Read The Parable of The Sower Matthew 13:3.
- Sevenfold – Seven times more – If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold
- Shall – Will – And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased
- Shalt – Will forever – Thou shalt do no murder
- Sheddeth – Sheds – Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed
- Sheep – Followers of YAHUSHA – the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
- Shouldest – Should – Better is it that thou shouldest not vow
- Sin – Disobedience to YAH’S WORD, Death – by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin
- Sinneth – Commits Sin, Act of disobedience – the soul that sinneth, it shall die
- Slayeth – Slays, Kills – Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God?
- Smiteth – To hit – He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death
- Smitten – Destroyed – Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies.
- Snare – An entrapment – And they served their idols: Which were a snare unto them
- Sojourn – Temporarily stay – Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, That I dwell in the tents of Kedar
- Sons of GOD – Heyl’el, The Angels, True Christians – And all the sons of God shouted for joy? Also, when HE(CHRIST) shall appear, we shall be like HIM

- Transgresseth – To Trangress, Sin, Disobey – Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law
